Sometimes my heart stops beating.
Maybe not literally, but there are times when it feels missing. It’s not there. It’s much easier to continue living for the moment rather than to the future.
It’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Some say we are each gifted with a certain number of heartbeats in our lives. Why go rushing headlong into a future, a spendthrift with our existence? Isn’t it better sometimes to let our hearts skip a beat once in a while? Those extra pulses add up in time; hours, days, maybe weeks of additional chances at happiness. That’s really the reason we are given life, it seems, for a chance to be happy.
But when we aren’t happy, why waste those heartbeats? Use just enough to get past those times, conserving every moment for that extension of enjoyable life in the future.
I guess fall is coming and it’s time for introspection again.
I really hope if you’re skipping beats its because of something simple like you’ve found the woman of your dreams or because the Braves are trying to pull off a nail-biter of a game or maybe you’ve been witness 2 the miracles of creation like giving birth.
BTW, ur injuns didn’t do so well 2night!
Very nice post.
Just be sure not to cheat yourself and lose out on the chance of making memories.
*HUG*
I’ll be in town next month. At some point I’m going to camp out on your porch until you come home.
… interesting concept, brother……. so how does one go about conserving heartbeats?..
I hope we get to share in more of your beautiful introspection. Often.
