When the Smoke Clears

Internal Monologues should remain internal.
(this being in the Army and being very direct isn’t always the best thing)
At the grocery store, walking in, headed towards me is a somewhat attractive lady in her late 30s with VERY well shaped, up for the whole world, no bra… mammalian protuberances.
“NICE new set there!”
DOH!

Why is competency so quickly punished and yet we seem to work in those places where one fails upwards?
Do a job well, do it efficiently, and one will be suddenly tasked with more and more work with the expectation that one can accomplish all tasks, regardless of how varied they are, with the same [...]

Stuck inside my temporary office for another day, no windows, nothing nearby to let in the daylight. That’s only to be found with a long walk down the hall. Construction on the new place will be done later this summer and I’ll have one wall that is nothing but floor to ceiling window.
