Time Ticks
October 8th, 2007 by rsm
One would think with a few decreased responsibilities that there would be a little more free time around the place. Not so.
I’ve cut back on the amount of time I am willing to spend at my regular job. Events prior to and after Basic have demotivated me from working the 60+ hours per week. I will give them my best effort… in the base time alloted. Anything beyond, well, it will have to wait.
However, there are things I am wanting to get done so each day should have some time allotted to it:
* maintain fitness regimen… that’s an early morning thing.
* do the occasional blog entry… but I have been slacking on my observations.
* write my recollections of Basic before I lose the details.
* read a little bit from a fiction book
* study anatomy to really master the subject, then start on medical microbiology for fun.
And all this while maintaining a house, attending Guard duty, getting all my education packets in, physicals, and taking other weekends to do some medical work for the military as well as for an upcoming event for my town. I cannot imagine how any of this would get done if I had kids. All you parents have my admiration.
I’m so glad you’re not working yourself to the bone at the “regular” job anymore. It’s not worth it. The young ones, the military… they deserve it more.
Not to mention it’s more fun!
Medical Microbiology……. FOR FUN! Damn bro I need to come check on you!
“I cannot imagine how any of this would get done if I had kids.”
You just rearrange things. It all gets done eventually. I was only able to take 2 classes a semester so it took me 5 years to get 2 years worth of work done – just keep plugging. (of course I wasn’t blogging back then)
“study anatomy to really master the subject”
That is best done witn a cute, young beautiful lab partner and preferably behind closed doors.
I’m glad you’re investing most of your time, energy & effort only where you’re getting the greatest return – in yourself.
Welcome back – the whole kids/education/etc thing is why I’m now a defunct blogger.
Glad to hear from you again, sorry I haven’t been around
Man, wanna borrow two teenagers? I’ll take ‘em back ’cause I love ‘em, but I’d dman sure like to see whqt you write after ’bout a week or two… Observations galore.
Some kick ass, some kick ass and raise children.
Don’t ask ‘em how they did it. If they pretend to know, they’re lyin’.
PS: You keep kickin’ ass… I got the kids covered.
I’ll loan you some kids if you want. You’ll learn to run really fast just to get away from them.
But seriously, write down your memories about Basic soon. I always put it off, and *poof* it was suddenly years ago. I hated that I didn’t take the time to write it down, both the serious and the funny stuff.
Yes, do the boot camp memories soon….
And, haha…you train the kids to help…
Hey, I sent you a note but it bounced back for some reason??? I lost your number… (I know shame on me…) and we definitely have to discuss the book. It was your recommendation here that prompted me to pick it up. I haven’t enjoyed a book like that since …well, it’s been awhile. I despaired of finding anything good to read after the 7th Harry Potter, and right there…it was there all along. I just had to read the ‘money speech’ out loud to the rest of my family…
