Destruction

Basic didn’t exactly tear me down mentally, though there was some of that… but physically… holy crap.
My knees survived. Dare I say it I think they are now better than ever. In fact, my time on my final Physical Fitness Test for the two mile was 13:03. Not bad at all for an old man. It max-es out pretty much every age group. I even outran the drill sergeants.
But tonight a buddy and I went to the gym for the first time since I got back.
I’m weak as hell compared to before. I’ll get it back but it will be a while, I can tell.
Then I stepped on the scale.
I have lost 22 lbs.
In 10 weeks.
22!!!
Someone get me a sandwich.
Congratulations and welcome home!
And even though you lost 22 lbs, you probably ate more than you ever have in your life.
I miss being able to eat two ice cream sandwiches. At every meal.
HOLY SMOKES! 22 pounds…. Hmmm…
Nope – at my age it just isn’t worth it to try and get into basic training, I’m just too damned old. heh.
Congratulations!
And 22 lb. I’m trying to figure out from WHERE. You were pretty damn lean last I saw you. It must’ve been a lot of muscle mass that you weren’t using.
Yay!!! You’re back!!!
i’d freak out as much as everyone else over the significant weight loss, but then again, over the summer, i think i lost between 20 and 25.
still, making you a sammich…
also, still so freaking proud of you!
mmmm… meatball sub with lots of cheese or a Philly steak and cheese… maybe a Reuben.
Onion rings or fries?
Welcome home!
You didn’t have even 5 pounds to lose! Where did it come from??
Welcome home. It must feel good to be in your digs again.
… welcome back….
Oh holy cow!! ::leaves sandwich and cookies::
Welcome back…nice to hear you survived boot camp.
