Out with the Old

I did not realize there was a package waiting for me on the deck. Just in time, my new Rite in the Rain notebook arrived from Ranger Joe’s. The old one has served me for nearly 2 years. Hopefully the new one will last as long. The notebook is a non-technology catch-all for whatever is going on in my work life. I have these journals going back for 10 years. I’m glad I do since I have to occasionally refer to them.

Why this particular notebook? Because it is small enough to fit into most cargo pockets but also because if I accidentally wash or spill something on it… which I am prone to do over a 2 year period at least once… it doesn’t mess up the contents.

For those of you who like this sort of old notebook thing, and I know there are a few fetishists out there, here are some pictures:

Wow… you have beautiful handwriting. I used to keep a paper journal, but I’ve had to choose between online and handwritten lately. Also, the toting it around bit was a problem… perhaps I’ll find a similar sized notebook for easy transport.

That’s something I miss from my Navy days – bound, pocket-sized notebooks with butt-sweat proof covers that fit neatly into the back pocket.

The civilian world doesn’t seem to have an equivalent.

Gorgeous notebooks. I still love them myself though I don’t use them like I used to now that I don’t travel as much.

    Happy New Year.
