Mother Update

Mom is in the cabin. Of course, I had to meet her in town first at the Antique Mall, then run over to Walmart to get some Diet Coke and a few other things and stand in the hellish lines (where we ran into and had to talk with the 1SG AND the LTC and his wife), then 3 stops looking for the right sized jug of wine in a Chablis… she likes the sweet white… then back home to unload her car, get the kitchen straightened out with her groceries, show her where everything is, set up some music to play, talk about how my grandmother (her ex-mother-in-law whom she went to visit on the way up here) is doing, talk about her friends who are acting “so old,” repair the drawer that she tore the front facing off with her super-human strength, fix her a vodka cocktail, discuss tonight’s and tomorrow’s dinners, watch a comedy, talk some more, let her cook dinner, eat, clean up dinner, box and store, set the drawer aside to do more serious repairs since she ripped it apart again, more stuff out of the car, another stretch out on the couch, phone calls to 2 friends, and set her up with a DVD in the player since she’s sleepy but knows she’ll be back awake at midnight and want something to do and I don’t have cable or an antenna on my TV… oh and do I mind if she stays out on the couch since there’s no TVs in the bedrooms… make plans for tomorrow to drive into holiday shopping hell, get a convection oven, look for some other “nick knacks” then to the Outlet Mall and perhaps back home. And while she loves how I’ve redone the kitchen area in blood red and steel, she is thinking about what she would do to add an extra row of cabinets above the current ones. Oh, and we have to find a new dinette set.

I’m getting some rest.

Can I borrow her for about a week? I’ve got a major honey-do list and no Honey to do it. I was thinking your Mom would probably be able to knock it out in about 5 days with that kind of energy and superhuman strength!

So… yeah, she can do all sorts of things. She’s pretty intense. Lots of superpowers. And just wonderful to talk with. She’s so funny.
