If not blood, then money… (bump)

Alright, I already urged you to give blood, friends. You’ll hear about it again in a few weeks. Trust me.
But now there is something you can do other than give blood. Look to the top right of my sidebar. That’s a blogger drive to raise money for injured soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen.
Soldiers’ Angels is conducting this drive to help get voice-controlled laptops to our young warriors who have suffered arm or hand damage. If you are older, you might not understand the extent to which the current generation remains interconnected via IM, voice chat, blogs, etc. It’s important. It can give a wounded soldier hope to have that contact.
If you have any doubt about how close I feel to this subject, read this posting (skip the first two paragraphs if you have to). You will be helping him and many others like him.
And it’s important to me. Many know I avoid the normal charity drives like the plague since I tend to donate a larger sum annually to a single cause. I refuse to buy a balloon or a shamrock or whatever $1 might get me to have my name scrawled on a piece of paper and scotch-taped to some storefront. Right now, I break that rule for this. It matters.
Are there other drives, other programs you can give to or work for? Glad you asked. But for right now… let’s get to it.
In the 40s the nation was at war and we sacrificed to pull through it. Yes, there were those opposed to the war, but it was still a nationwide effort. We were all a part of it. This site will change soon to reflect that era. It is well past time we remember those years and make some sacrifices for our warriors.
